Co-founder and Executive Director-Emeritus Genette Freeman will concentrate her efforts on developing support of all kinds for the festival. Co-founder Val Underwood will remain in his role as Artistic Director.
Genette Freeman states:
“I’m proud to say that I, along with my friend and partner Val Underwood, created this festival, 14 years ago. I often say I could write a book, and maybe I will! We’ve been through many changes and challenges, and now it’s time for a change at the executive level. Justin John Moniz is a rare combination of superb artistic talent and a skilled administrator . I welcome Justin and wish him the best as we move forward. I will remain involved in finding all kinds of support for HPAF, as well as publicity, public relations, marketing, advertising, fundraising, community liaison and development.”
Justin John Moniz states:
“The opportunity to lead such a prestigious performance and training program is a great honor. I first came to the festival as a student in 2009, and have since witnessed HPAF’s enormous growth first hand. It is my hope to build upon the traditions of the past thirteen seasons, while moving forward with a newly defined vision for the future.”
