Joseph Leppek, described as a tenor with “clarity and enormous charm” (KC Independent), is originally from Novi, Michigan. He is currently completing his second year as a resident artist with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City under the tutelage of Vinson Cole. Kansas City most recently saw him as Pedrillo in Die Entführung aus dem Serail. Also with the company, he performs Arturo in Lucia di Lammermoor and Delbert Grady in The Shining. Joseph is a two-time young artist with the Glimmerglass Festival, where he starred as Tony in their new production of West Side Story. He is also a past Apprentice Artist with Central City Opera, where he sang Maintop in Billy Budd. Joseph has sung with other companies across the United States, including Michigan Opera Theatre (Mariachi 1 in The Summer King), Houston Grand Opera (Mr. Martini in It’s a Wonderful Life!), and Opera Saratoga (The Priest in Il Postino). He is a graduate of Rice University and DePauw University.
