Laurie Rogers

Music Director/Conductor, The Threepenny Opera

Laurie Rogers is the director of Young Artist Programs and the Head of Music Staff for Opera Saratoga in upstate New York. Last season she served as associate conductor to Maestro James Conlon at the LA Opera for Jake Heggie’s MOBY-DICK. Ms. Rogers has served on the music staff and as assistant conductor at the Dallas Opera for the past five seasons; recently she has also worked at the San Francisco Opera, Washington National Opera, Minnesota Opera, Atlanta Opera, North Carolina Opera, prepared the Studio Showcase Concert for the Houston Grand Opera, and also served as music director for the recording of Opera America’s commissioned song cycle “Jeannette Rankin: Fierce Grace”, created by Ellen Reid, Laura Karpman, Laura Kaminsky, Kitty Brazelton, and Kimberly Reed.

As a conductor she has led productions for Opera Saratoga, the University of Alabama, Land of Enchantment Opera, and Poor Richard’s Opera in Philadelphia, and conducted Poulenc’s DIALOGUES OF THE CARMELITES at TX State University. Recently she has given master classes at the University of California/Santa Barbara, University of North Carolina/Greensboro, University of Tennessee/Chattanooga, the University of Delaware and the University of Alabama, and has given several master classes at the San Francisco Conservatory.

She served as assistant conductor for the Opera Company of Philadelphia over the course of 13 seasons, also working for many years in artistic administration for that company. The Greenwich, CT native is a New England Conservatory of Music alumna and has prepared productions for San Diego Opera, Utah Opera, Green Mountain Opera, Arizona Opera, Opera New Jersey, Michigan Opera Theatre, Washington National Opera, Wolf Trap Opera, Boston Lyric Opera, Sarasota Opera, Pittsburgh Opera, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Glimmerglass Opera, and others.
