                                         string program: july 1-16, 2012

Students Under Age 18

While it is ultimately up to each individual to behave in an appropriate manner, the Hawai'i Performing Arts Festival is committed to providing a clear set of expectations about behavior.

Each festival participant will be viewed as a representative of HPAF, and it is important that our behavior is characterized by courtesy and respect to each other, our hosts at HPA and the people of Hawai'i.

All federal and state laws, as well as rules and regulations of our hosts (Hawai'i Preparatory Academy) will be enforced by local police and HPA security.  Faculty will report all offenses to local authorities.  Failure to adhere to these laws and rules will result in expulsion with no refund of tuition.  These include but are not limited to:

--No illegal drugs

--No underage smoking or drinking

--No alcohol on the HPA campus

--Smoking allowed only in designated areas at HPA

--Appropriate behavior and dress are expected at all times.

Students will be asked to sign a document at registration agreeing that they will abide by these rules.

Our festival’s home is the Hawai'i Preparatory Academy, considered by many to be the leading college preparatory school in the Pacific region.  For more information about HPA, visit their website at www.hpa.edu.

The community of Waimea is served by the North Kohala Community Hospital.  In the event of a medical emergency, underage participants will be taken there.  Parents will be asked to provide the appropriate medical authorization forms.  Underage participants must have health insurance and bring their insurance cards.

Participants under 18 will be accompanied on all official festival activities by faculty members, adult volunteers, or administrators.  Staff members will be housed in dorms with underage attendees, who will be expected in their dorms by 10:00 every evening unless prior arrangements have been made with the festival.  Underage participants will require permission from the festival to leave campus.

Festival participants under 25 will be transported to and from the airport and to official festival events in rented vans or buses driven by volunteers over age 25 or professional drivers.  There is a ground transportation charge for festival participants under age 21.  The underage festival participant can choose to share rental costs with a driver over 25.  Keep in mind this includes transportation to all festival events as well as airport transfer.

Hawai'i Performing Arts Festival, a non-profit corporation, does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, religion or national and ethnic origin in the administration of its educational programs, admissions policies, or employment practices.
