HPAF Alums Make National Finals of NFAA Competition!

Summer 2010 Young Artists Alexys Tiscareno and Samantha Hankey were selelcted as national finalists in the Classical Voice division of the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts(NFAA) "YoungARTS" Competition in Miami.  This is the largest arts competition for high school seniors in the country, and it selects the Presidential Scholars in the Arts.

They traveled, all expenses paid, to Miami for a week of interaction with the 200 other top young performing and creative artists in the country.  They performed for prize money, worked in master classes with the judges, observed their peers' performances, art exhibits, films, and play and poetry readings, and had the time of their lives.

Additionally, Alexys was a quarter-finalist in Non-Classical Voice category in the 2011 Spotlight Awards competition. She was also a semi-finalist finalist in the Classical Voice category.

Samantha Hankey also performed on the popular NPR radio show, "From The Top" hosted by concert pianist Christopher O'Riley.  This show features live performances by the finest young (under 19) classical performers in the country.
