About Steinway & Son pianos....
It’s the classic American success story. European craftsman emigrates to America in the 19th century to escape war and political turmoil. After suffering the loss of most of his family in the Napoleonic Wars, Henry Steinway came to New York in 1851 and founded the legendary piano company, Steinway & Sons.
They are widely known as the finest pianos in the world. Presidents Theodore and Franklin Roosevelt were given Steinways that are still in the White House, and there are many photographs of Harry S. Truman playing his Steinway.
It takes about one year to build a Steinway grand, as each piano is mainly built by hand. Each piano has a high life expectancy and is a good investment. A 50 year old Steinway grand usually has a four time higher resell value then a new one.
Steinways rarely go on sale, but residents of the Big Island now have a unique opportunity to own the best and pay a little less.
