Overview:
Idyllically located, the Hawai'i Performing Arts Festival Instrumental String Program is designed for violinists, violists, cellists and bassists who wish to find a nurturing musical environment conducive to higher learning. Led by an outstanding and experienced faculty, students benefit from a selection of intensive classes while being given time to enjoy the unparalleled and inspiring beauty of the Big Island of Hawai’i.
Separate from the long-established Vocal Program, interaction between the two takes place whenever instrumental participation is solicited.
2012 will offer improved facilities, logistics and transportation.

Dates:
July 1-16, 2012 (classes begin on July 2, end on July 15)
Campus Location:
Held at the Hawaii Preparatory Academy, on a 200-acre campus at the foot of the Kohala Mountains in the town of Waimea (Kamuela) on the island of Hawai’i. Home to the Davies Chapel and the Gates Performing Arts Center. Sitting at an elevation of 2500 ft, the climate is ideal to all participants.

Room and Board:
Students under 18 years old live on-campus in a dorm assigned to the festival. Off-campus housing available to students over 18 yrs-old. HPAF will locate available housing upon request.
On-campus Room and Board: $1,200.00
Off-campus Housing: HPAF will provide quote. On-Campus meals available and recommended.
Tuition and other fees:
Registration Fee: $40
Tuition: $900
Some Transportation costs not included.
Financial assistance:
Funds available for financial aid are limited.
The first step toward getting aid is to apply for admission and be accepted to the festival. The festival's limited scholarship funds are awarded based on three criteria:
- Merit
- Financial need
- Needs of the festival
